The International Centre of Universiti Malaysia (UMT) successfully organized the International Centre Roadshow Programme at Raia Hotel, Kuala Terengganu. The programme was attended by 45 participants comprising representatives from various faculties, institutes and responsibility centres of UMT. The initiative was aimed at strengthening UMT’s internationalisation agenda through the sharing of information, policy coordination and enhanced collaboration between the International Centre and university stakeholders involved in international activities and programmes. Serving as an engagement and outreach platform, the roadshow provided participants with a better understanding of the roles and functions of the International Centre while facilitating constructive discussions on the implementation of internationalisation initiatives. The programme also encouraged greater coorperation among faculties and units to ensure that international programmes are carried out more effectively, systematically and in alignment with UMT’s strategic goals and aspirations.
The programme also served as a platform for participants to exchange views, discuss challenges and propose recommendations aimed at enhancing the effectiveness of student mobility management, strengthening international academic collaborations, improving the recruitment and admission of international students and supporting various international initiatives that contribute to elevating UMT’s global visibility, reputation and international standing.
Among the key topics discussed during the roadshow session were the procedures for implementing student and staff mobility programmes, as well as the official processes for overseas travel involving funding applications under the Special Committee on International Affairs and International Relations (JKHAB). The session provided participants with detailed explanations of the key criteria that must be fulfilled before an international programme or activity can be considered for financial support. In addition, participants were briefed on eligibility requirements, application procedures, required documentation, submission timelines, and compliance with university guidelines and regulations. These discussions aimed to ensure that all faculties and responsibility centres have a clear understanding of the established procedures, enabling them to plan and implement international programmes more effectively, efficiently, and in accordance with the university’s financial governance and accountability standards.
According to the Director of the International Centre, Prof. Dr. Kesaven A/L Bhubalan, the roadshow programme is expected to serve as a catalyst for fostering closer collaboration between the International Centre, all faculties, institutes and responsibility centres across the university. He expressed his hope that the information-sharing sessions and engagement activities conducted throughout the programme would enhance the university community’s understanding of internationalisation processes and opportunities, thereby strengthening collective efforts towards achieving UMT’s aspiration of becoming a globally recognised and competitive university.
Through the continued commitment and collaboration of all stakeholders, UMT remains optimistic about expanding its global partnerships, increasing student and staff mobility opportunities and further strengthening its position as a leading higher education institution distinguished by excellence in academics, research and internationalisation.
