What is an i-Kad ?
The i-Kad is biometric identification card issued to international students in Malaysia after their Student Pass has been successfully endorsed by the Malaysian Immigration Department.
The i-Kad contains the student’s identification details and serves as a supporting identification document during their stay in Malaysia.
Please note: The i-Kad is not a replacement for the passport and cannot be used for international travel or travel to Sabah and Sarawak. Students are required to keep their passport and valid Student Pass at all times.
Who Needs i-Kad ?
All international students holding a valid Student Pass are required to obtain an i-Kad, subject to the applicable requirements and procedures of the Malaysian Immigration Department and Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS).
New international students will be guided by the UMT International Centre on the application and collection process.
Existing students are required to ensure that their i-Kad remains valid throughout their period of study at UMT.
Step for i-Kad Application

The student must first complete the Student Pass endorsement process through the UMT International Centre & the Malaysian Immigration Department (MID).

The student is required to submit the necessary documents to the UMT International Centre for i-Kad processing.

The UMT International Centre will facilitate the i-Kad application and processing with the relevant authority. Students are advised not to submit a separate application independently unless instructed by the UMT International Centre.

The student is required to wait for the i-Kad to be processed. The processing period may vary depending on the status of the Student Pass and the processing requirements of the relevant authority.

Once the i-Kad is ready, the student will be notified by the UMT International Centre regarding the collection process.

The student shall collect the i-Kad according to the instructions and arrangements provided by the UMT International Centre.
i-Kad Collection
Students will be informed by the UMT International Centre once their i-Kad is ready for collection.
Students must follow the collection instructions provided by the Centre and bring the required identification documents when collecting their i-Kad.
i-Kad Renewal
International students are responsible for ensuring that their i-Kad remains valid throughout their period of study in Malaysia.
Where renewal is required, students should submit the necessary documents to the UMT International Centre within the prescribed period.
The renewal process may be coordinated with the student’s Student Pass Renewal and other applicable requirements.
